Sustainable Values and Local Flavors in Mórahalom
As a TDM organization, our most important task is to bring together regional service providers, especially those involved in tourism. Although there is no dining option at our central office, we share all essential information with visitors to the region on our website, www.visitmorahalom.hu. Here, guests can find local restaurants, with special attention given to those offering special dietary options. The back-office team at our central office works to ensure that breakfast options can be provided at Mórahalom’s private accommodations. During our events, we also provide information about food ingredients, taking different dietary needs into account, and we indicate when we offer local products.
Móra-Tourist Nonprofit Ltd. represents the Homokháti Portéka trademark, owned by the Municipality of Mórahalom and officially recognized by the National Intellectual Property Office of Hungary. Our company is responsible for managing the certification process associated with the trademark and for maintaining the registry of those authorized to use it. This trademark is available to local food industry companies, businesses, or individuals working in the Homokháti micro-region whose products are made using ingredients sourced from our region. Special attention is given to products with organic certification or those produced in an ecologically sustainable manner. During the certification process, these criteria are thoroughly explained and documented.
Our company does not sell endangered fish, seafood, or protected species. These products are not offered in our program packages or at our events. At our events, we primarily serve meat-free foods (such as pastries and strudels from Varga Bakery), and for dishes containing meat, we use the traditional domestic products of Priváthús Mórahalom Ltd.
Our central office features handmade products from the region as well as the natural and cultural values of Mórahalom. Our brochures include the services and contact information of local artisans. Publications showcasing Mórahalom’s history and distinctive characteristics – Our Local Values – can also be purchased in our office. Each year, we organize the Mórahalom Crackling and Pálinka Festival, where local folk dancers perform and a craft fair awaits visitors. The event celebrates the traditions and values of the local community.
